That all depends on the LED spot's you are using. Are it DMX LEDPar's? Or normal LED lights from a standard hardware store?

If it are DMX lights you can use a standard DMX interface (like an Enttec DMXUSB pro) 

If it are LED lights form a hardware store you can maybe use a PWM (Puls widht modulator if they are dimmable) or a Relay board to control them. These are also available in dmx versions. 

I think that would be the easiest option.

This is certainly do-able, but I think my workflow would be to make them into a movie file and play that if I was having trouble getting it to work programatically.

This is a function of the refresh rate of your display and how well it synchs up with the rate at which you are flashing images across it. With your setup, it's going to be like you're playing a 10 FPS movie, which may or may not look good with the display you're using depending on whether the refresh rate of the display meshes well with your 10fps content.

You said: each picture as large and crisp as possible

"Crispness" is a function of your media's resolution and your output display's resolution. If your image or display have a low pixel count, the image will not be "crisp".

Use a Pulse Generator set to 0.1Hz instead of a Wave Generator, (the wave gen will trigger constantly and make your images cycle much faster than 10fps), but yeah, other than I'd give that patch a go. 

Make sure to initialize the Picture Player "picture" input at 1 (So it starts at the beginning). 

Make sure to initialize the Counter "cur value" input at 10 (to ensure that you can see your first image for 1/10th of a second before it switches to the second image).

Make sure that the resolution of your images all match, and that this resolution is the same resolution as the display to which you are outputting.

.jpeg if you don't need an alpha channel, .png if you need an alpha channel.

MAC + PC - Cannibalize a copy of the Old Patch and make it into the New Patch.

If you haven't started the New Patch yet:

Open the Old Patch.Select "File > Save As" and save a new copy.Delete all the Scenes except the ten you want as the basis for your New Patch.Start making your New Patch out of the skeleton of your Old Patch.

MAC - Open two instances of Isadora (same version), copy-paste multiple Scenes from Old Patch to New Patch

On Mac, if you need to copy Scenes from an Old Patch into a New Patch that you've already started:

On Mac you can open multiple instances of Isadora, (unfortunately you can't do this on PC), so open the Old Patch and the New Patch at the same time.In the Old Patch: Shift+click to select a range of Scenes in the Scene List.Press Cmd+C to copy.In the New Patch: Select the Scene List.Click between the Scenes (as you would if you were trying to insert a new Scene between the existing ones).Press Cmd+V to paste.

Note: You can't open two different versions of Isadora and paste Scenes between them.

You can copy-paste Scenes from one 2.6.1 Patch to another 2.6.1 PatchYou can copy-paste Scenes from one 3.0.2 Patch to another 3.0.2 Patch.You can't copy-paste Scenes from an Isadora 2.6.1 Patch into an Isadora 3.0.2 Patch.

Note: On Windows, you can only have one instance of the same version of Isadora open at a time, so you can't use this method.

Windows - "Pack" the Scenes from the Old Patch into Macros, save them, then "unpack" the Macros into new Scenes in the New Patch

I just responded to a ticket where a user was asking about making motion-reactive visuals with Syphon Receiver. This led me to make an example file demonstrating basic motion tracking and value scaling using the Syphon Receiver, Syphon Stage Output, Eyes, and Limit-Scale Value actors so I thought I'd post it here in case it would be helpful for anyone else.

What does the Syphon Receiver actor do and how can it be used for motion-responsive visuals?

Syphon Receiver is used to pull in Syphon video streams from other applications. If you do not select an incoming Syphon stream in the actor itself by clicking on the "server" input and selecting a Syphon stream from the list, it will not display anything. Syphon Receiver can be used for motion-responsive visuals if you use the Eyes or Eyes++ actor to do motion tracking of a moving body in an incoming Syphon stream and then use the data provided by the Eyes or Eyes++ actor with other Isadora actors. Here's a link with some explanation about motion tracking. To work with motion tracking, you will want to have a good understanding of value scaling. (Value Scaling Tutorial 1, Value Scaling Tutorial 2). Here is an example patch (created in Isadora 3.0.2) which demonstrates how to use Syphon Receiver, do basic motion tracking with the Eyes actor, and gives a simple example of value scaling using the Limit-Scale Value actor.

In the case questions about the function of specific actors (or their inputs/outputs), the actors section of the Isadora 3 Manual has an entry for each actor with these details, so it's always good to look there to learn more about specific actors.

Jacques, after a six month pause, I am back to my Isadora/Kinect project. I have been using the Shutter Encoder software on my PC to transcode DNxHR.mov file  to HapQ.mov files. The transcoding is very fast with Shutter Encoder. My input files are 3840x1920 using DNxHR HQ(Resolve v15. 3). Is that what you suggest, or should I use DNxHR  HQX 10 bit? Also, is there any advantage or disadvantage(speed, file size, etc) using HapQ.mov vs HapQ.avi? The HapQ.mov files are approximately twice as large as the DNxHR HQ.mov files. Also, do you notice any quality difference between transcoding with Virtual Dub vs Shutter Encoder?

That's unexpected behaviour. Scaling the Horiz Zoom and Vert Zoom of a Zoomer tends to scale the image from the centre. I have experimented with scaling the Zoomer and I can't make it scale from the bottom. it looks like MIN and MAX of Horiz and Vert are set to different values. Maybe try setting both of these to  MIN=0 and MAX=100. Alternately, you could ditch the Zoomer and use the Zoom input of that particular Projector.

If you can't get it to do what you want naturally, you could go back to using a Zoomer and scale the Vert Centre of the Zoomer at the same time as you are scaling the Zoom parameters to compensate.

(When asking for advice, its usually useful to indicate whether you are working on Mac or Windows)

Yes. What Shuffle does is actually much like a pack of cards, it gives a card on Trigger, and when you reset the stack all numbers get added back to the stack.

In this context it might be wortwhile to mention that you can turn any actor into an 'actor with the eye', via 'Actors' -> 'Show/Hide Properties'. I do this regularly with the 'MultiMix' actor, because I very rarely need all eight inputs and can save a lot of screen space this way.

Dear All,

In Isadora 3, we have the new and very useful Detach Links at Input (⌘3) and the Detach Links at Output (⌘4) in the Actors menu.

But @GertjanB alerted me at the Isadora Werkstatt that these don't work on his Belgian keyboard, because you need to use the shift key to get the number 3, and that means you're pressing command-shift-3 (⌘⇧3) and command-shift-4 (⌘⇧4) which most of know are both used by macOS to take a screenshot. That means you'll get a screenshot instead of executing the commands you expect.

I just verified that if I disable those in the System Preferences, the commands will work in Isadora as you expect.

Not a very nice workaround, but for now that's what I can offer.

It's clear we need the ability to customize the shortcuts in Isadora, something I've wanted to add for a while. I am going to raise the priority on this so that it will come out sooner rather than later.
