If you are concerned about the number of links you would have to connect, you could Broadcast the Show Control Watchers outputs with the Broadcaster, and pick up the values where ever needed with the Listener actors.
This is essentially what my template does, for the record.
A lot of 3d enabled projectors support side by side or top to bottom split 3d movies. You can then use shutter glasses to view the 3d image. Often a sync generator for the shutter glasses control is needed. The way you are doing it now has less gear as you don't need to sync polarised glasses, or you could go to anaglyph.
Isadora is quite 'dumb' in that perspective, it doesn't know where the files come from / what else is in the folder. Thankfully you wheren't the only one with that problem, so I created this solution for Images using Processing and Spout :) https://community.troikatronix...
If you need to have it changed for video's, give me 2 cups of coffee and I will see what I can do :)
Wow! I just found your tutorial this morning. I've been tinkering with the 3D Particle Actor forever and not not making any progress. I will study your tutorial. Thank you.
Thanks so much. I'm on mac, so i switched your code over to use Syphon, and got it working (though with a strange image flip that I don't yet understand the cause of)
I'm looking to load work with use multiple images within a scene, rather than just one, but this sketch gives me some ideas of how to get started, using Processing.
@woland Yes! I am working on this project again. I was waiting until V3 to dig in. I have a show in a month or so with FFoB and am working through refining and simplifying my patches. Excited about the speed increase and the fact that controls will run on a separate thread so I can use it to monitor audio inputs and routing to effects etc without taking a performance hit to the engine.
I put an enquiry through to Black Trax about a system to track a dancer in one of my scrim projection rigs (4 x 4 x 6m) the estimate came in at US$72,000. That would take some serious fund raising to achieve. Some alternatives were offered: a preloved system or a system from a rental partner, but I would have to dig a bit deeper to get a price on those options.
@dbini John's suggestion of making his own system sounds more feasible at that price tag.
