@woland Yes I think it should be possible to simply record all the content ie the audio and the video.

Have you checked out the Body Tracking Guru Session? It comes with a set of files that may prove useful.

The OpenNI Tracker Tutorial file (for the OpenNI plugins) may also be helpful as a starting point.

This forum thread has some helpful work from @bonemap you could try to incorperate.

From the TroikaTronix Add-Ons page, there's also this 3d lines puppet for the OpenNI actors, which is also from the fabulous @bonemap.

You could probably also adapt the work that @mark posted in this forum thread.

Searching the forum for "3D particles" may also turn up other treasures for you :)

      Best wishes,

      Woland

I would consider it,  but would prefer it to be automated.   It's in a worship environment, and hoping to allow it to be run by semi-trained volunteers.

However, I hadn't thought of using companion  - that might be a workable solution.  Thanks for the suggestion!

Do any of the tools similar to OBS allow for communication with other programs?  Seems like they are missing a huge bump in usability if not.

      Thanks,

      El

You may also want to find a monospace font to use, this way you can calculate the space required for the word, since each letter will take up equal space. That should allow for a grid like layout to become possible. Rotation will be another monster.

yes thanks! I take good mark of this encouragement link;-)

I will feel more relax with the datas of the show stored in a text document,
if I need to change the patch after the scene progression has been recorded, it won't be a big deal to modify the architecture..

@dusx I love the tip about about making background search-able. Whenever I'm building a patch for or with someone else, or as an example of students, it's always covered in backgrounds and comments explaining what's within each background. Making that 'search-able' to jump to a different section of a patch is a great tool to help people navigate a workflow, #effects, #cameras, #mapping...

I'd not utilised it before as I'd never considered using it with re-named actors; I'm always wary of re-naming actors when teaching as I want students to be able to find things for themselves when building their own patches, so I tend to leave the names of things alone. Using backgrounds would avoid any confusion.

@laurentr I like this method. One little trick to get around the 'percentage' rather than 'real time' output is to use an Envelope Generator++ and set the final value to the same number as your 'time'. That gives you seconds as an output:

I think I'm right in saying the difference between a standard Envelope Generator and an Envelope Generator++ is the '++' version outputs values between Min-Max rather than 0-100. Very useful for negative numbers and when you want to 'see-what-you-get' without invisible scaling happening.

I am new to Isadora pretty much...what are the Core Video and Quartz plugins?

There is not really any documentation on this.

The Core Video plugins were plugins first offered by Apple over 15 years ago with MacOS 10.4. They allowed faster real-time video processing because they took advantage of your computer's graphics card (GPU). Isadora adopted these plugins in the days of Isadora v1.x when most video in the program was processed on the CPU. They are somewhat difficult to work with because everything is specified as pixels instead of the more friendly percentages used by Isadora's plugins. At this point, most of effect and other features these plugins offer have been covered by Isadora's native GPU plugins, though there are probably still a few plugins that remain unique and interesting for Isadora users. Apple has not marked these plugins as deprecated, so you can expect them to be around for at least a few more years.

You can find some document on the CI plugins in this Apple legacy document, the Core Image Filter Reference.

Quartz Composer plugins were created in Apple's Quartz Composer app, a node-based visual programming language provided as part of the Xcode development environment that allowed processing and rendering graphical data. Like the Core Video plugins, Isadora offers the possibility of using Quartz Composer plugins late in the days of Isadora v1.x.

Many end-users created plugins for Quartz Composer and shared them on the Internet. Here you may find some "gems", though some of those like the Datamosh plugin require a 32-bit compatibility which stopped with macOS Mojave.

Development stopped on Quartz Composer about seven years ago. As of macOS 10.15 Catalina, the Quartz Composer framework has been deprecated, although it is still present for compatibility. However, when Apple says something is deprecated they mean it: Quartz Composer plugin support will be removed for some future version of macOS. Because of this, we do not recommend that you continue using Quartz Composer plugins in patches that need to have any sort of longevity.

Because these plugins are not cross platform, and because they are not really developed by Apple any longer, we've stopped doing extensive testing on these two plugin categories; we have kept them around so that legacy patches that still use can still be run. We recommend that you work with Isadora's GPU based actors and/or GLSL plugins that we expect will work for many years to come.

      I hope that helps!

      Best Wishes,
      Mark

thank you. I cannot try it out directly right now, because the PC is stationed in an isntallation space. Just to understand you right, VB is acutally something like "soundflower" on Mac? So I route all outgoing sound of isadora to that, and use it as input in Zoom? That way I wouldn't be able to hear the sound myself on my speakers, right?

      TouchOCS Bridge

From what I understand of TouchOSC Bridge, TouchOSC sends MIDI over the network (maybe using OSC or UDP) to the computer running TouchOSC Bridge, and Bridge forwards these Midi messages via virtual Midi ports it installs. So the whole process is done without OSC, it is a wireless MIDI setup, receiving MIDI means you have it working.
