I know that is late but it may be helpful to try changing the axis in 3D application

@jwilson, @CraigAlfredson is right. His solution will work.

Another way is to use use a Comparator actor. Send the MIDI value to the 'value 1' input, and set the 'value 2' input to 127. Ensure the mode is set to 'eq' -> "equal to." Then you'll get a trigger every time a 127 arrives.

after a lot of thinking, i changeD all my medias with the same ratio like fifou says. too much trouble with switching the aspect on/off, because quad distord keep the last ratio for its settings. and i switch beetwen pictures and movie with somes gates and a multimix... thanks for your help

I figured it out. It seems too easy.  I just created the mask as a .png - black where masked and transparent where I want content. Send it to a quad distort, set to transparent and put in layer ten, Then any content, as long as in layers -10 thru 9, is masked AND individually controllable via their quad distort without distorting the mask. The alpha actors are not even necessary. I don't see why this was so tough to figure out. Now i can adjust the mask separately from the content. It wouldn't work earlier because the projector actor and the quad distort won't work together in layers. The quad is always on top it seems. Why is that?

Thanks Mark - I was actually trying to make a preview of what a 30' x 16' LED wall would look like to someone, so when i did that, a stage at that size was too small to see it. When the stage is larger, Isadora interprets all of the pixels in between, so it was fuzzy, rather than large sharp blocks.

Yeah OSC is much better for this. As I'm sure you are aware MIDI is an old technology but one that has lasted. OSC is much better for timings.

For the space bar part of your question, use a keyboard watcher connected to the trigger input on the Jump actor. Set the keyboard watcher to watch for the space bar or any other key you want to use.

In the old forum Mark once mentioned following:
Now, you can prevent this by using the Video Preload actor to preload the clip before you activate it. The goal here is to do this just prior to loading the clip you need. In my shows, when this has caused a problem, I preload the clips for the next scene in my current scene... something like 5-60 seconds before. That being said, don't preload them all at the beginning of your show because that probably won't work. The "virtual memory" in OSX or Windows will see that the data isn't being used, and will swap it out to disk if you wait too long. If this happens, then the preload is essentially useless. There isn't really a way around this...

So I think the problem is "Isadora not playing for a while". Maybe to get around this is to set a "pulse generator" actor that triggers the preload every 3 or 5 minutes.
3 minutes are 0.0056Hz
5 minutes are 0.0033Hz

Wondering if you can try this Isadora test file (attached) and tell me if you see the same kind of initialisation setting problem you mention in this discussion. I have been troubleshooting this and it seems to be related to incorrect user actor saving rather than a bug, but if you can try this file and tell me if it works correctly for you or if it still drops the initialisation, that'd be great.. if you have time?

After I saved the user actors in the way that the manual recommends, I haven't seen the behaviour that both you and @awilder describe.
In short I have not been able to recreate the bug...

If you do try it and still experience the bug, can you send in a bug report, Paco?

(@awilder I already have a bug report and detailed correspondence from you, so at this stage I don't need you to send me another one.)

@Gapworks Yes, at first it seems odd, but frankly, it seems that most PTZ cameras are horribly designed, with proprietory quirks, and are also disproportionately expensive compared to other solutions. So they havent been very popular with interactive designers. I had one myself for a project and it was useless. We went back to a standard camera.

FYI Newer versions of Isadora have never removed any standard actors that were available in an earlier version of Isadora. New features and new actors have been added but never removed, so that loyal Isadorians don't have to worry about older patches being hard to open on newer versions of the software.
There are a few different reasons for an Isadora patch to be showing something that you can't find in your own version. This is partly due to Isadora's ability to grow or expand with plugins and custom user actors and also to the fact that beta versions of the software can be downloaded from the website that may include new atcors for testing purposes that have not yet appeared in the standard release.
There are also some actors that are part of the Core Video or Core Audio upgrade. So if you haven't paid for that upgrade you may not have access to those actors.
But anyway, that's generally how it works.
People on the forum are generally happy to help people out with any confusion that arises as a result of this shapeshifting trait that is basically due to its flexibility and to the ways a user can customise the range of actors to best suit their own needs and skills.

I've used Automator to handle this with keystroke recording. It's part of the OS, and not that hard to learn, and useful for many things in installations. You can record actions, save them as an application, and put that application as one of the startup items.

@craigw: no, unfortunately there is not an actor that can provide an exact read out of the timecode from a movie at this time.
