Also, you could use DiskWarrior to "rebuild" the drive, in my experience it had the same effect as reimaging.

Thanks Mark. I tried your patch, I can see the attraction for other uses but there are flickering artifacts at the edges of the vertical lines. So I tried again and again with my original design over the last 10 days and I have smooth motion at 50fps, animation codec and render speed at 25%, although I have to say I had to turn the "dropped frames abort" option off - don't see them, though. Maybe lowering the render speed even further will solve this. Now, rendering the footage into AE introduces stutter again, but I guess this is beyond the scope of this forum.
I would like to thank you all for your comments up to now and will post a link of the result here once satisfactory.
The thing is Mark, I am very happy with Izzy because it gets most of my jobs done approximately 4 times faster than with Jitter and 3 times faster than with Processing. And the job described above could be done entirely in AE, but of course without the real-time preview...

Also, if you are careful, I suspect you can make a very light "dusting" of white spray paint on the plastic. Troika Ranch's set designer did this on some black plastic mesh onto which we were projecting, and it had a very noticeable effect without making the surface noticeably white. Just my $0.02. I'm doing some experiments with Blackberry's open source game eningine called "Gameplay" which provides easy persistence and parameter declaration by writing out values to UTF8 encoded dot files. https://github.com/blackberry/GamePlay/blob/master/gameplay-docs/file-formats.pdf I wonder if its possible to get this file writing done with one of Izzy's actors - ? - Eventually I'd like to be able to hook things into an OSC driven interface to tweak parameters of a game scene ... for the stream address in quicktime I found http://192.168.1.155/tt.mov that isn't working either. I saved the video as quicktime, I can have the stream open as quicktime movie but the resolution is awfull and not showing up in izzy. For VLC, it's not working in webbrowser (I'm on mac) because "plugin not there"… but when I open in VLC directly http://192.168.1.155/cgi-bin/videostream.cgi?user=admin&pwd=admin it's working but it's the low res stream… other 2 address you gave me aren't working, sorry best, Sam

I haven't been able to figure out how to create a simple black mask over Multiple CI Projectors which are being used to composite alpha channeled video.  I've been using Mark's CI Classic Crop actor as the last actor infront of each CI Projector, but I lose the alpha channel of my image when I pass it through the CI Classic Crop Actor.

I'd ideally like to be able to use a CI projector, put it on the highest layer, and use a black and white rectangle to crop the image using the blend modes.  So far it only works with a white mask (Black=transparent, so I can't get a black mask).  I'm sure I'm missing a very simple concept here.  Any ideas?

I figured it out...You have to use the projectors to make the masks by sending CI constant color (Black) to the projector, and then by sizing the crop in the projector itself.

Yea I was trying to give it a vector(ish) style using threshold and blur.

Burn might do it actually. Basically; the fact remains that the background needs to be a minimal as possible! Or ideally one block of colour that you can key out.

setting the movie speed to the lowest level (i.e. 0,1 or 0,01) will make the movie scratchable in both directions.

for the low tech end  (and of course budget) try buttermilk: applied thin with a foam paint roller it will dry after approx. 20 minutes (3 time s). it's a charming. try it before applying at the flagstore ,-).
and you can accentuate the vintage look with a brush etc, get a cleaner look with  airbrush (?)...   just  experiment!.. removes with water

(low end) we used to take frosted sandblast foils - they're not soo expensive and easy to remove. get some sample and try
