I've had fairly reliable results using a program called IPCAM2syphon for receiving incoming IP video (for example between AU and CA). It'll convert up to 16 streams of IP video to syphon textures.

The most important thing I've found for use with izzie is to make sure that the ip cameras  you are using to transmit video are able to be set and locked to mjpeg compression.

As a side note - I used to use quicktime broadcaster but I haven't been able to get it to work since 10.8 was introduced.

So, the first thing one needs to know is that 6 thunderbolt outputs does not means hook up six projectors and off you go. The configuration matrix is a little strange but its based on the fact that there are three thunderbolt buses. see: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5918 So after trying dual heads we ended up using apple dual link adapters, at the moment I have 4xDVI discreet stages and one thunderbolt for control and its stable. In conclusion. Add 99 Dollars per extra dvi output you want from this machine. Update: it seems like you can mix dual links and normal mini display adapters. I have 2+2 working now. The maximum of mini display port to DVI adapters is 2 like apple says, from there on you need the more expensive dual link adapters. fubbi

Probably less chance of getting caught if you don't have a beard. They are wise to that kind of thing these days.

Given that the Lacie you linked to will likely cost most of what the original poster's entire iMac cost it is probably not worth waiting for. For typical playback applications that TB2 Lacie unit would be beyond overkill. I have a couple of the thunderbolt rugged portable SSDs and they do the job pretty well

Hello, we can only have 2 thunderbolt intensity OR 2 thunderbolt mini recorder at the same time capturing HD. But also 1 thunderbolt minirecorder and 1 thunderbolt  intensity. With the intensity usb it is the same: we can have in isadora double HD capture at the same time.  Basically Blackmagic drivers are for thunderbolt OR USB devices and one cannot mix usb AND thunderbolt but we can have 2 at the same time (maybe 3... Isadora (non qtkit) works fine with them using the usb beta 9.7.9. You cans see detailed text here with cpu speed. All running at 30 fps rock solid.

I just got mine working this morning (testing it to sell it!) on a brand-new MBPr

But what I did was this -

Installed latest switchresX

Used MDP -> VGA into triplehead VGA port, then three DVI-VGA adapters out.

Set the resolution via switchresX to 2400 x 600 (Mark says that's the max rez for triple head on mbpr, maybe that meant only if you use VGA)

(Might have done vga into VGA-DVI adapter too, instead of / in addition to VGA right into the VGA input on TH2G - can't remember and I've disassembled / repacked everything).

Probably restarted the computer.

Tricky to get switchresX running with the security / sandbox settings - make sure it is actually running!

Mavericks kept telling me "unknown developer" etc.  So I had to go to security settings and there was a message there asking if I wanted to allow switchresX to run.  No other thing I did got it running, i.e. the preferences interface always said "switchresX is not running,"  Even when I told it to start it at login, it didn't start nor did it warn me except in the SwitchresX control panel.

Have never used it with DVI, I'm pretty sure you can't mix DVI and VGA signals, it's all one or the other - i.e. VGA in, all VGA out, or DVI in, all-dvi out.  Not 100% sure but kinda sure.

I used it a few times live. perfect for a dual laptop setup

I do have something that will allow you to get the camera on the retina, but there are also several bugs associated with it. (E.g., you can't use more than one camera.) I am working on this and should have it in the next couple of weeks, but if you urgently need to get the FaceTime camera into Isadora, and are OK with working with a buggy version, please PM me and I'll send you a like. **6 x 720p synchronised...**

OK I have started testing after finally getting most components in... Getting decent constant sync playback for 6 x 720p @ 25fps. (1080 def not cracking it with my set-up... but most of the projectors are 1280 x 800 so why bother). I was considering using the 2 x Matrox Triple Head method as advised but budget was short and I wanted as few as possible external parts as the idea is to have a completely foolproof plug-and-play "black box".

**Solution was this:** PC with 3 x 64GB SSD, Win7 Pro, Izzy 1.3f24 2 x GeForce 640 (each with 2 x DVI and 1 x HDMI) All test movies rendered to 1280 x 720 Quicktime Prores 422 LT (about 40Mbps or 5MBps) 6 x stages, 6 x Movie Player Direct per scene playing out one to each stage All monitors and Isadora settings at 1280 x 720 Master player is the only one really playing, all other players' speed set to "0" and "position" out of master player plugged into "position" in of slaves. That last trick was what saved it... having all players actively playing was making everything a bit sluggish, with no chance of introducing a sync method without making it worse. Using the master player to "drag" the others along does the trick, and ensures sync with the sound (fortunately just one stereo track from the master). (doing this without setting the slaves' speed to "0" did not deliver good results) Performance sits at around 22fps clocked by Isadora, and setting the master player's speed to 1.02 seems to give correct 25fps playback - if frames are dropped it is unnoticeable. Tried a lot of formats before settling on Quicktime Prores 422 LT... nothing seems to play out better than that one, even on PC! ... and I think it plays nice with the sync. Thanks for all the advice, has been an interesting experiment so far... still to be completed. m

i'm a bit late to this thread, however with much interest i have caught up with it today.

in some older show control programmes the question of "where am i in the sequence?" was taken care of of "pozitracking" or "dynamic tracking". devices connected to a time line being synchronised to that timeline and where ever one went on the time line, all the devices would be updated to the new position. ( this was especially useful when working with handfuls of pvw beta sp decks. ) in this case there appears to be a need for the lighting board cue to contain a unique identifier for that cue that isadora can read and adjust the active scene to match the unique identifier. in isadora the "current scene number" actor can derive the isadora part of the logic sum. having a routine of comparing the incoming unique identifier with the current scene number can both advance and reset the position of isadora relative to the unique identifier from the lighting board.   (apologies if in this thread, other comments have suggested something similar and i've failed to see that.)
