Thank you  Mark, that was it. All is working fine with a mono track. Also, my other problem with the edge blend actor has disappears since I started using 2.5.1.

Hi folks, I'm running a workshop in June on a public stage that has a big LED display at the back of it and, obviously, I want to plug into this to run Isadora visuals in realtime.

I've researched and found that the screen is P10, at around 500 x 300 pixels and usually runs adverts and slideshows from a PC in a rack under the stage.

This morning I took my MacBook down there to test things out. They have a Scaler with a spare SDI input. I connected my HDMI to SDI converter (a little Plug and Play box that works fine in conjunction with its friend - a SDI to HDMI converter that I usually use at the other end of a BNC cable to do a 20m signal run to a projector) to the Scaler, but got nothing but a black screen out of the Scaler.

I contacted a company that often uses the stage for live events and they can supply the kit and a technician to plug it in for 300€. which would be great if we were getting paid for the workshop, but we're doing it for free, so I don't want to pay commercial hire rates for some kit for 2 hours, when I might be able to buy the same kit for less, and therefore be able to do more free workshops in the future.

My question is: has anybody here used a big LED screen? if so: how did you get SDI into the scaler? I'm thinking of getting a Blackmagic Mini Monitor (I have a Mini Recorder and it's brilliant) - which, I would assume, is more configurable than my plug'n'play converter - does this show up as a stage output option from Isadora?

(TLDR: can i use a Blackmagic Mini Monitor to output SDI directly from Isadora?)

@merni hey, i have used a few of varying quality, go for 5ghz and your best source these days is a drone specialist. A lot of the drone gear is long range and modular, you can pick and choose feature, cameras transmitters to get the setup you need.

The all in one wireless spy camera things you will find on eBay are not so good and subject to a lot of interference. Stay away from 2.4 GHz if you can. I went through a lot of these on a long running show and it was a pain. The static and interference was very welcome in this shows aesthetic so i got away with it. If you need a clean image these will not help you much.

@mark Will Isadora process colour at 10bit? @keftaparty, does spout pass images at 10 bit? I am guessing it is all on the gfx card and is floating point?

.....TB is still a bottleneck ....  even more for high-end GPU cards.... am i right?

Regarding Apple's blocking EGPU ....  Bizon must have driver or a workaround for using their system ... or?

In the case i like to enhance my system with an "old MBP" the performance advantage of a high-end card compare to "normal" one is not so given, special with TB2 ..

It has it's own onboard graphics; HDMI, DP, DVI, etc but packs enough punch to be used with all the other components I need.

Yes it appears the software download link is no longer easily accessible through the internet. Here is a copy of the LCEdit software package 3.4.5 March 2012 - the last update I downloaded and the last update of the software by Lanbox as far as I know.

Hello everyone,

Today I got chance to plug my BlackMagic MiniMonitor into the scaler for the LED screen and it worked first time. actually, it worked on all the different settings and different resolutions, mainly outputting a small image in the middle of the screen. the higher the resolution output, the smaller the image. (?weird?) but after a bit of fiddling around i managed to get most of the pixels in use.

@Jgelting I had seen one system where it made a large display (like a matrix triple head) but apparently this was not standard and the unit I have and apparently all of them, make separate displays. Yes you can add as many as you need, there does not have to be 4.

We use an ultrastudio express in thunderbolt(1). But you were right, the camera itself has a latency of 122 millisecondes. We pass through an atem to choose which camera we use (+20 milliseconde) and then, the capture itself has a 140 millisecond malus. 

That split one problem in two problems.

I am going to build a solid workstation with a MacPro 5.1 for Izzy and the question is...  which GPU to use for 4 outputs in 1080p?

I have a Matrox TH2Go DP ... absolute fail - no Full HD support on my MacBookPro (Thank you Matrox) for 3 outputs :-(

What's stable and powerfull enough to play on 4 FullHD displays (projectors)?

This one's look good, but what about GPU (OpenGL, OpenCL) acceleration for Actors?

NVidia Quadro M2000, 4GB GDDR5, 4x DisplayPortAMD FirePro W7000, 4GB GDDR5, 4x DisplayPort

... or is it better to use a consumer gamingcard with Titan or Pascal GPU?

There is also the Blackmagic Decklink Duo 2... it's complete without acceleration... but with the benefit of inputs...

I recently bought a Datapath VisionLC HD2 HDMI capture card and I wanted to share my success.

Above you can see it capturing an output from isadora running at 1920*1080 and up-scaling it to 3840*2160 (see below). I have since read it can capture a single HDMI at full 4k - which I will try one day.

The hardware cost £435 which is pretty cool as this can capture DUAL HDMI inputs. So its almost £200 a channel input capture.

Frame delay is minimal but the quality is amazing. 

It's also: 

PCI Express Gen 2 x 4 low profile

And it is indeed low profile! I was very tight on space.

I have done now hardcore testing yet but it works and I will keep you posted on my research.
