      Bezier Curve Particle System Tutorial

      Hi,

I am making this tutorial and file set available to the community. I would love to see what can be made with this visually and conceptually.

Bezier Curve Particle System links to a .PDF file description/tutorial of the prototype development.

Demonstration Isadora File links to an .IZZ file with the functioning prototype.

This might be useful for educators looking for interesting Isadora tutorials for their students.

      Best Wishes
      Russell

      [EDIT]

      Dear Community,

Please find this new "guru session" directory with viewing and download links for all of the guru sessions. We will be updating this list as we add guru sessions in the future.

Guru Sessions Directory Knowledge Base article.

[EDIT] We've created a special thread where you can find all the "guru sessions" viewing links and downloads

      Dear Community,

First, please don't post in this thread. This thread will be used to announce the URL for each of the two-hour online teaching sessions. I will post the URL for each session 10 minutes before the session

The first session will be Wednesday March 18th at 6pm CET (Central European Time) (West Coast USA = 10am PDT / East Coast USA = 1pm EDT / UK = 5pm GMT)

The second session will be Friday March 20th at at the same time listed above.

I am still ramping up on how this all works. Hopefully today will be a success, but I'm sure there will be some glitches. Thanks to all who will give it a try!

      See you Soon,
      Mark

Thanks Mark. I've attached some text files with the amended code here.

Looking forward to seeing what other people are doing with shaders.

I'd like to know if there is a way to capture a still from the Vimeo stream using the same actor used in this tutorial to mix the still and moving image in the effects mixer to create a mask.

Can you use the Capture Stage to Picture actor to grab a still image of the stage? The picture then becomes available to the Picture Player actor allowing you to use that still as a background?

      Hi,

here's the user actor that did the 'Framing' or inserts of images in the first episode. It's got a bit more functionality than we needed, with room for 4 main inputs (in our case the cameras from each actor) which can each be scaled and positioned. Then there's an optional background layer which could obviously be anything but we often set it to a semi-transparent colour like in the screen-grab below. Finally you input a max horiz/vert size to get the shape right and set a size and colour for the outline, if you don't set these then you don't get an image. The on/off for the freeze function grabs a still and desaturates it when set to 'on'. The on/off for the gate works a bit like a bypass, this has to be 'on' to see any output.

Oh, and it's called 'No FX' because originally we made it with an option to turn the various effects on and off within the actor. We took this out because it always seemed more efficient to do this upstream of the framing, especially where we had several 'frames' within a scene and that way we only needed apply the effects once as they were always the same. So, it wasn't a deliberate punk reference, sadly.

Just thought I'd share this interactive / generative installation which is up in Montreal until Dec 18th 2020 at the Maison de la Culture Maisonneuve

'La Lune Est...' displays a series of texts - metaphors that describe the moon - onto a circular back projection screen.

      http://portfolio.smeech.co.uk/la-lune-est

The generative element comes from an optical fedback loop, created with a cctv camera pointed at the screen, and a couple of wave generators to oscilate the contrast and mix in effects (an yes - that is DITHER!!!! I'm still using v2.6.1 for this as I love that effect so much.)

The text is read from a .txt file, which is stored on Dropbox, , which is itself updated from an applet on If This Then That (https://ifttt.com/home - very easy to use) - which means anyone can add their text to the piece easily via a hashtag or google form.

The screen was made by https://www.extension.ca/en in Montreal it cost me about CAD$1000 / £700 including local delivery - it has an aluminum frame, breaks down into patrs, and has a IFR stretch fabric screen with a hem.

      "Reverse-Engineering Zoom with Isadora

      Site-Specific Performance for the Internet

      04 January 2021

Jared Mezzocchi has been systematically exploring what Zoom and the editing program Isadora can offer theatre practitioners during the pandemic. He has been working in the field for over a decade and has explored it from multiple points of view—designer, director, playwright, artistic director. As a theatre educator, he launched an MFA program at University of Maryland in projection design, and he recently designed and co-directed Russian Troll Farm, the highly acclaimed Zoom theatre production. We Zoomed in November to talk about the production, how to reverse-engineer Zoom, Isadora as the way forward, and more."

@woland Thanks Woland. Very good to know. I am doing also some more user actors for lower thirds and other zoom ISO commands. I'll put all of them in the add-ons page now that Ryan has solved my login issues. Excitying times for Isadora users ahead !!!

an you update the one on the Add-Ons page to include both GLSL shader versions?

I would just update the patch on the Add-Ons to have only the alpha version so there is no confusions. Better to have a single version for less confusion.

Producing virtual theater with Isadora? Now there's no more need to use the Screen Capture actor, croppers, and zoomers to get your talent from Zoom into the media server. With ZoomISO, you can get each participant individually, at full HD quality, via Syphon and NDI, and the app can be fully controlled via OSC. Here's how to get started!

      @joe_pavey123

Are you referring to PoseOSC? If so all the info you need is on the Github page, including a link to the keypoint diagram.

There seem to be only 38 (max) tracking points.
Each seems to have a x,y, and 'score' value, so I think this is only 3*38 OSC values isn't it? Not thousands ☺

Unfortunately, I am time poor to create a tutorial atm.

Once you've got more time we'd love it if you could upload it to the TroikaTronix Add-Ons Page if you haven't already.

Cool things like this tend to get buried in the forum over time.
