I manipulate many text for show and the best way, for me, is a special Quartz Composer patch able to open and parse an XML text. With that I can have a very precise control on what Is screened. The only problem is you have to make your text in QC (size, place etc.) and send image to Isadora. It's possible to send text, but accent (like in french) are very badly interpreted between QC and Isadora. Mark, a data array with text? :-) or a XML paser? here is a sample of a QC patche, and an XML. I use it for a performance with multilingual subtitles Hope that help Jacques Hoepffner

I made a plugin a while back that will jump to whatever scene matches the cue number you are getting over MSC. As long as you follow the right syntax, you can jump out of order to wherever the lighting console is going. Here's a link to the discussion, which includes the plugin if you want to try it.

In this case, the resolution is equal to the resolution of the projectors, as I set Default Resolution to be that value (for that show it was 1024x768)

no I don't have that space for back projection, only got one projector for this show anyways and 4 computer screens and 1 flat TV.. some one have come up with a construction with plexi/PVC class and build new frames for all the screens, they did that on eurovison to get the screens black, if it work I let you know what kind of material it is so if someone else have the some problem there is a solution to it:)

Looking at the QC Mesh wave actor -– by the name of it one would think it may be relevant to procedurally producing a wave distortion source for the Displace actor. However, changing its input values does not produce any effect, except the amplitude: all I am seeing is a nice 3d ball.

thanx for the tip but as i had anyway -for each of the 4 Windows of the Spliscreen- anly the quater Resolution of the full HD Projektor so it was ok with the quater input resolution for the Livecamera -which was delayed - and i have to say it worked like a charm!!!

No this should work.. try entering the number manually.
You can click the output (like inputs) and enter a number for the link there.
and in the control panel you can open the monitor properties (double click I think), and enter the link number there.
I have successfully had > 10 monitors running at once in 1.3.0f24 for Windows.

yes, thank you for this examples. But unfortunately they didn't really spoke to me (shame on me). Perhaps it's not my way to think. And I'm scared that I'm not alone... You know, we are often thinking in a symetrical way. For example if we see "RGB to HSB", we think (and hope) that there is "HSB to RGB" ; and there is ! Can I suggest to add, in the help file of "Number to Text" actor, a short text to explain that if the user want to do the contrary, "Text to Number", he has to use a "Text Parser" with your explanation ?

I think in many cases, the native resolution of the projector must be considered. Like @Armando, most of the low cost beamers I work with have a VGA resolution as native (usually 1024x768 for me).
I create my media at 1024768 and then a copy at half (512) unless I am specifically working in HD.
I agree @Fred that understanding video standards is important, however; since nearly all my work in CG/digital I am exclusively working with square pixels, and VGA standards are the most practical.
Unless I am missing something fundamental?

It seemed to work, but the bar across the screen makes it unusable, of course. Also, I noticed other strange things, like pressing the bar to switch a scene seemed to switch the scenes in both patches. I do not have a lot of time to play with it (also that lighting guy makes it too hard to notice what exactly is happening with the projection ;-), and luckily, was able to convert everything into a single patch. --8
