Well, to be honest, we haven't tested Isadora with a 4K camera so we can't guarantee it.

I'll have to wrangle a camera to try this with, as I myself don't have one.

The thing with theatre lighting in general is that is quite expensive if you don't have the equipment yourself. Like you mention already, you need to have a USB > DMX interface for Izzy to communicate with the DMX protocol. And you need some kind of dimmer to take control of fresnels / pc / spots or even simple bulbs (That you also need to buy / get somewhere..)

I created IzzyHue, basically actors build in Isadora that allows you to communicate with Philips Hue. I don't say this isn't expensive (still around the 150 dollars mark for the starterskit), but it gives us some options because Hue bulbs can change color, we can change the brightness, we can change the fadetimes, etc.

The reason why I created IzzyHue is because most of the time I'm working on installations / theatre sets and there is not really a cost friendly way to actually change a single piece of scenery. (For example a lamp that we have on the stage that needs to change with the enviroment lighting of the set)

No experience of iMac in performance, but I have a problem with your sentence: "one of the HD as the projectors are only XGA but I can use the oversize to allow all the mapping", If you have a XGA (1280x768) projector, the mapping would be inside that definition, not inside 1920x1080 output, no miracle… The other question is about what will be the images: stock, procedurals, with many simultaneous fade-in/out?

I would definitely make a test with real condition before to buy one…

Thank you Dusx for you point of view. after discussion whith a friend I com to this view.

For a Laptop 4 output is yet pretty nice. I've a matrox also  and for bigger venue a Desptop PC whit two EVGA  GTX 960  inside that provide me 8 output.

But I need a Laptot for time , i must travel lighter!!

The GTX 1070 MAX Q is alsa ready for VR which could help in the futur.

one tip. Throttle back the transfer speed. Sending the dmx too fast can negatively affect patch performance.

I tested with my MacBook Pro (2014 version, with 2 thunderbolt, 1 HDMI, 2 USB ports built),connected it to 3 EPSON projectors via 2 VGA (via thunderbolt) and HDMI and it works!  I got 3 independent projections / stages from Isadora.  This is great but I have not tested enough to see if this is stable to run a show.

Thanks for the info! I find that AA batteries last me quite a long time, but I like the idea of docks and rechargeable batteries that fit in the WiiMote just for piece of mind and to simplify things for operators when I've left.

I want another TripleHead2Go (DP Edition), but officially, the specs say that multi-unit support is only available/supported for Windows.

I believe @bonemap once confirmed that two TH2G DP Editions worked on a Mac, but I'm all about gathering as much data as possible.

Just a little information for Mac users: a few weeks ago i updated to 10.13.3 and lost use of the little camera on my MacBookPro (late 2013 i7 15"). (was it called the iSight or FaceTime camera??)

Today's update to 10.13.4 has brought it back to life, only now its called AppleCamera and in the Live Input Settings capture resolution defaults to the global default resolution from the Izzy Preferences Video Pane (which i never noticed before)

Exactly. Systems like surveillance camera's also use it. Basically most small networked devices have a version that is POE enabled.

We want to share a small actor, which helped us in our performance  "loopstation". In order to have more haptical control we used keyboards as our input devices.

To get the x-keys working is pretty simple (using the hid input in communications->stream control). 

For the programmable keyboard a MCI128 from preh, i choose a column & row approach  (buttons are programmed as keypress a+1,a+2 …till in our case  p+8). The incoming keypresses are decoded with a javascript actor. We had 128 possible keys, but you could extend this with another keyboard (starting with the prefix q till z) or extending the prefix with another modifier.

Attached is an izzy file and a key table we used for prehs config software "winprogrammer"

Can you tell us a bit more about resolution you're trying to output on video projectors ?

And what kind of cable and length you are using through projectors ?

It seems it is not a problem coming from Isadora but from kind of frequency and resolution each Bus can manage of the iMac Pro.

As far as I know, Isadora has no problem to manage three outputs at the same time.

Kind of device and frequency seems to be very important too. 

This kind of question went out also when people began using Mac Pro 2013 (the "bin").

6 outputs but, as well as iMac pro, not a Bus dedicated to each output, so you can face bugs depending on which output you're plugging your devices.

I may have time to test projectors on  iMac Pro tomorrow , let us know if you found a solution until then.

I gotta say, I've never tried to output through it - haven't seen it show up as an option in OSX outputs, though it has outputs on one side.

moving files from v2 to V3 should be less of a task than moving from V1 to v2, since there is no change in video formats. It remains on the gpu as vid-gpu. 
The reason I haven't migrated Syst3m to V2 (I have done parts) is that there is A LOT of repatching to do to make it vid-gpu based. Once done moving this to V3 should be pretty simple.
I didn't get much interest when I initially released Syst3m freely so there wasn't much pressure to upgrade it.. since its very modular, I have upgrade sections as needed for other projects.. it works as a sort of library for me.

I've definitely seen the draining battery issue when charging through display adapters - because those adapters don't always (or even usually) pass the full 85 watts through. Plugging directly into the macbook itself 'fixed' it the one time I ran into it. That may be an issue with four display adapters connected, but something like this should deal with that (puts both displays on one physical port, and leave the other open for charging).

This is my first post here, but I’ve been reading this forum for a few days now.
But I can’t find the answer to my problem…
For our next production we need 3 projector screens + 1 control monitor on a 2009 Mac Pro 2.93 Ghz Quad-Core.
I can’t seem to get real smooth playback with 3 streams at the same time. Although the source material is 25 fps, the playback looks like it was 15 fps or worse.
The resolution does not have to be extremely high, 1024x768 or 720p is more than enough. I have been testing with both ProRes LT and HAP codecs, but both don’t play at the same quality like f.i. VLC player plays the source material.
The strange thing is that the old Classic Movie Player actor does a better job than the new Isadora 2 Movie Player. As I understand Isadora 2 uses the graphics card to render video, while the classic player is CPU based.
While playing 3 streams ProRes LT at 720p 25fps in 3 Isadora 2 Movie Players + Projectors, I get a steady 25fps and a VPO of around 2.7 in the Show Status window. The Mac activity monitor does not show extreme CPU usage. So the bottleneck has to be something different…
Now I was thinking that maybe the two standard Nvidea GT 120 graphics cards in the Mac Pro could be the culprit. Is that possible?
And would I get much better performance if I put a ATi Radeon HD 5870 in there?
In that case I would have 3 outputs for the projectors on that HD 5870 and keep one of the GT 120’s for the control monitor. Will that work? Because I’m confused what the ’Shared OpenGL Resources’ setting in preferences will do in such setup.
Has anyone a setup like this and can you confirm this works fine and you get smooth playback of 3 streams?
